Trauma Therapy in Northview, Grand Rapids
In Northview, daily routines can carry reminders of past stress. We start by building safety where you already spend time, like the East Beltline drive, school pickup, or evenings at home. If the hour after pickup feels tense, we practice a two minute reset you can use in the car before heading home. As your system steadies, we process what still feels stuck so you can trust your body and your judgment again.
Early on, I will not ask you to tell the whole story. We build safety first with short, body based practices and a clear stop signal. As you feel steadier, we decide together what to work with next, whether it is a present day trigger on East Beltline or a memory that still lands hard. The pace stays slow and consent led so your body can recover between steps.
What Trauma Therapy Looks Like Here
Stabilize first so sleep, focus, and daily routines feel safer.
Map Northview triggers and practice brief grounding you can use in the car, before school pickup, or after work along East Beltline.
Replace shutdown or outbursts with clear steps that support connection at home.
Update the story you tell yourself about what happened and what it means now.
Track progress in small, repeatable ways that fit your week.
My Approach
There is no single method that works for everyone. I draw from multiple modalities including Brainspotting for deeper processing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for thought and behavior patterns, HeartMath for regulation, and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) for PTSD. We will discover together what fits your needs and nervous system. Some clients respond to body-based work, others to cognitive shifts, and many benefit from a combination that evolves over time. Goals stay specific and practical so you can recognize progress in your daily Northview life.

FAQ
I am worried that talking about trauma will make me feel worse.
We will not dive in before you feel ready. Stabilization comes first. I will teach tools for bringing the body back to baseline so processing feels safer and you can stop when you need to.
Do you work with veterans
Yes. I provide trauma informed care for veterans and can coordinate with other providers when that is helpful.
Do I need a diagnosis before starting trauma therapy?
No. We will start with your goals and how symptoms show up day to day. If coordination with other providers is helpful, I can collaborate with your existing care team.
