Substance Abuse Therapy in Ada, MI
Change is easier when it matches real life in Ada. If evenings after the Fulton Street drive have turned into a default drink, or stops near Ada Village cue cravings, we will plan for those exact moments so progress does not depend on willpower alone.
I am a Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor, and we will choose goals that fit your values and what you’re ready for, whether that is sobriety or a harm reduction plan. I use plain language, no shame, and small, trackable steps you can keep during busy weeks around Ada Drive and Cascade Road. The aim is steadier days, clearer choices, and fewer surprises from urges.

My Approach
Substance use often develops as a way to manage something deeper—unresolved trauma, chronic anxiety, relational pain, or a nervous system that never learned to settle. While we address immediate cravings and triggers, we also work to uncover and heal the underlying causes that made substances feel necessary in the first place. As we build stability, we may explore patterns from your past, process stored stress with Brainspotting, or work on the beliefs and emotional gaps that fuel the cycle. If medication assisted treatment is part of your plan, I coordinate with your prescriber. The goal is not just to stop using, but to resolve what drove you there so recovery feels sustainable rather than white-knuckled.

FAQ
Do I have to commit to total abstinence to work with you? No. We will define goals together. Some clients choose sobriety. Others choose a harm reduction plan with specific limits and safety steps.
What does harm reduction look like in practice? It might mean tracking use patterns, setting drink limits for specific situations, switching to lower-risk substances, or creating safety protocols. We build the approach around reducing consequences while respecting where you are.
Do you coordinate with doctors or programs if I am in treatment? Yes, with your consent. I collaborate with prescribers and outpatient programs so your plan is consistent and you are not pulling in different directions.
Can therapy help if I've relapsed before? Absolutely. Relapse is common and does not mean failure. We use what happened to strengthen your plan and identify gaps we missed the first time.
