Anxiety Therapy Near East Grand Rapids

Anxiety has a way of threading itself through an otherwise ordinary week. Maybe your shoulders tighten on the drive along Lake Drive, or you feel a familiar unease at Reeds Lake when plans shift and the afternoon stops going the way you'd mapped it out. We use those actual moments — the real places and rhythms of your East Grand Rapids life — as reference points, so progress shows up where it actually matters.

For some people anxiety looks like constant worry that never fully quiets — running through worst-case scenarios, rehearsing conversations, or lying awake cataloguing everything that could go wrong. For others it shows up as physical tension, avoidance, or a low-grade dread that's hard to name but impossible to ignore. It can look like perfectionism at work, irritability at home, difficulty making decisions, or always waiting for something to fall apart even when life looks fine from the outside. Whatever form it takes for you, it doesn't have to be this loud.

My Approach

There is no single method that works for everyone, and anxiety rarely has a single cause. I draw from present moment regulation skills and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to address anxious thinking and behavior patterns — but we don't stop at the surface. Alongside building practical skills, we look underneath the anxiety itself: what experiences shaped it, what your nervous system learned along the way, and what may still be unresolved beneath the day-to-day symptoms.

When it aligns with your goals, I may incorporate Brainspotting to reach body-based activation that talk therapy alone hasn't been able to touch — particularly useful when the anxiety feels more physical than logical, or when you sense there's something deeper driving it that words haven't quite reached.

We will discover together what fits your needs and nervous system. Goals stay modest and honest, progress gets evaluated regularly, and any adjustments we make are realistic for a full East Grand Rapids life — not just something that works in a therapy room
